The new phase of the Conformity Assessment Program (SONCAP) has been launched by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, which is a statutory organization of the Nigeria government.
The Primary Objectives of the SONCAP Program are:- Ensure compliance of goods with the applicable Nigeria Technical Regulations and Mandatory Standards (or their equivalent).
- Ensure quality of products, consumers’ health and safety, and environmental protection.
- Prevent the importation of substandard & counterfeit goods in Nigeria.
- Minimize the risk of rejection of the goods at destination and facilitate trade.
SONCAP Procedure Consists of Two Mandatory Processes - Product Certification and SONCAP Certification:
- Product Certification (mandatory, a prerequisite that Nigeria importer obtain (Form M)
- Exporter submits a completed Request for Product Certification (RFPC), Laboratory test report issued by an approved laboratory, photographs of the products and information about the product marking and labeling etc.
- The Certification Center (CC) will review the submitted paperwork.
- SGS confirms quotations and issues pro-forma invoices.
- The exporter confirms payment.
- SGS issue Product Certification.
SONCAP Certification (used for customs clearance):
- The Exporter obtains Form M Number from the importer.
- The Exporter submits a completed Request for SONCAP Certification (RFSC), Laboratory test report issued by an approved laboratory, photographs of the products and information about the product marking and labeling etc.
- The Certification Center (CC) will review the submitted paperwork.
- SGS confirms quotation and issues pro-forma invoice.
- The exporter confirms payment.

SONCAP程序：(包括產品注冊證書和清關證書兩大部分)
1 產品注冊證書（強制性，是取得清關證書的前提條件）
2 出口商遞交完整填寫的產品注冊SONCAP證書申請表，檢測樣品，產品圖片及標識等相關文件；
3 進行產品檢測并審核文件。
4 確認報價并出具付款通知單；
5 客戶確認付款；
6 出具產品證書，簡稱PC證書。
清關證書SONCAP Certificate（一次性使用）
1 出口商從進口商那里獲得Form M Number；
2 出口商遞交完整填寫的批次證書申請表RFSC(Request for SONCAP Certificate)，最終商業發票，裝箱單，提單；
3 出證中心進行文件審核；
4 確認報價并出付款通知單；
5 客戶確認付款；
6 出具清關證書，簡稱SC證書。
