起初發(fā)展鑄鋼是為適應那些超出鑄鐵閥和青銅閥能力的生產需要。但由于碳鋼閥總的使用性能好，并對由熱膨脹、沖擊載荷和管線變形而產生應力的抵抗強度大，就使它的使用范圍擴大，通常包括了用鑄鐵閥和青銅閥門的工況條件。 適用于工作溫度在–29～425℃之間的中高壓閥門。其中16Mn、30Mn作溫度為–40～400℃之間，常用來替代ASTM A105。適用介質為飽和蒸汽和過熱蒸汽。高溫和低溫油品、液化氣體、壓縮空氣、水、天燃氣等
